Savanah Baird, she/her (Love) is a senior Political Science and Theater Major from San Diego, CA. Savanah is very excited to be part of this show. It has been absolutely wild and fun and terrifying all at the same time.
Alexa Bayliff, she/her (Understudy) is a senior Theater Major from Los Angeles, CA. Alexa feels very honored to be a part of this project! You may remember her from The Moors as Marjorie/Mallory/Margaret or if you've been at UP for a while you might remember her as from 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche as Ginny. She would like to thank Andy and the wonderful cast for a letting her be a part of this beautiful work of chaos.
Amelia Beasley, they/them (Evil) is a first year History Major from Petaluma, CA. This is their first show with UP Theatre. They most recently performed on stage in Newsies Jr. as Davey and Matilda Jr. as Mrs. Wormwood with their old company, Cinnabar Theatre. They would like to thank the fantastic company of Everybody for being so supportive as they learn the world of UP Theatre and to everyone who ever listened to them passionately rant about this show.
Makenzie Binsacca, she/her (Death) is a junior Theater Major from Sammamish, WA. Makenzie is thrilled to be onstage again in a show as wild as this one. She recently studied abroad in London, England where her love for theatre and the arts flourished and traveling the world has now been added to her bucket list. Most recently she appeared in You Cannot Undo This Action as Robin and is currently the Vice President of the Theatre Club on Campus. Makenzie would like to thank her Mom and Dad as well as her brother Riley and puppy dog Bailey for all their support. This cast and crew have been a joy for her to work with and she hopes you enjoyed it!
Bennett Buchholz, he/him (Somebody) is a senior Theater and English Major from Seattle, WA. Bennett is proud to be a part of this production of Everybody here at UP. Past productions at UP include Company as Robert and House of Desires as Don Pedro. He would like to thank his friends and family for their continued support.
Ricardo Guevara, he/him (Somebody) is a sophomore Theater and Marketing Major from Portland, OR. Ricardo Guevara is very excited to share this production with the world. His recent productions include Much Ado About Nothing as Claudio, Matilda as Mr. Wormwood, House of Desires as Don Carlos, and Black Comedy as Brindsley. He would like to thank his parents, brother, aunt, grandparents, friends, the Redmond Academy of Theatre Arts, the Centro de Arte de Teatral CDMX, Mr. Farmer, Mr. Rust, and everyone in the University of Portland theatre department for supporting him in his journey in theatre.
Aria Hroma, she/her (Understudy) is a junior Secondary Education and Theater Major from Boise, ID. Aria is excited to continue with UP theatre, especially with a show as fun and intense as this one. She understudied last year in House of Desires as Dona Lenore, Celia, and Don Juan and appeared in Company as Marta.
Mia Lindsay, she/her (Assistant Stage Manager) is a senior Biology and Psychology Major with a minor in chemistry from Eugene, OR. This is Mia's fourth show at University of Portland, and she is super excited to be returning to the production side of theatre. She was previously an Assistant Stage Manager for Inventing Van Gogh and has acted in You Can’t Undo This Action as Taylor and Black Comedy as Clea. Outside of theatre, you can find Mia at Swindell’s at odd hours working on computational chemistry research, tutoring in the SARC, or drinking way too much boba. She would like to thank her friends, and family for being the ultimate support and the cast and crew for all of their hard work. She is super excited to present this quirky, rollercoaster of a show. Sit back, buckle up, and enjoy the ride!
Shae McCarty, she/they (Usher/God/Understanding) is a senior Music Major from Corvallis, OR. They started doing theatre in high school and continued performing into college, and have been in several university productions including The Penelopiad as Naiad Mother/Ensemble, You Cannot Undo This Action as Michelle, The Moors as Emilie, and Company as Amy. As a winner of the 2021 Concerto and Aria competition, she has also had the amazing opportunity to sing with the UP Symphony Orchestra twice this semester. This past summer, Shae traveled to Italy as part of the Music in the Marche program, where they performed in their first opera, Suor Angelica as La Maestra delle Novizia/La Sorella Infirmiera. In her free time, Shae enjoys hiking, embroidery, baking, and playing Dungeons & Dragons!
Zora Richardson, she/her (Somebody) is a first year Theater and Psychology Major with a Music Minor from The Dalles, OR. Zora can confidently state that this is the most challenging show she has worked on to date. Some of her previous shows include in Beauty and the Beast as Belle, Much Ado About Nothing (abridged) as Benedick, and Spin: A Musical Myth as Archne. She also performs with Original Practice Shakespeare here in Portland, which has helped her prepare for the wild, unpredictable nature of this show! Zora is a violinist in the UP Orchestra and sings as a soprano in Bel Canto. When not performing, she enjoys sewing historical costumes, re-reading her favorite novels, and cooking with her friends and family.
Rachel Ramos, she/her (Somebody) is a senior Nursing major from Southern California. She is immensely grateful to be a part of Everybody and to work with such an incredible cast and crew. Rachel spent last summer in San Francisco to join American Conservatory Theater's 2022 Summer Training Congress. She would like to thank her friends and family for their support as well as Andy for this opportunity. She would also like to thank Mighty Leaf Matcha for keeping her caffeinated this semester. In her free time, Rachel likes to watch Disney movies with her godson, Jakey!
Lilly Grey Rudge, she/her (Assistant Director) is a junior Theater and English Major from Seattle, WA. Lilly Grey is so excited to have been a part of such an exciting and experimental process. She would like to give a big thank you to Andy Christensen for providing this opportunity, to Sue Bonde for being the best boss in the world, to the cast for being so welcoming and to my roommates for putting up with all my late night rehearsal stories. Lexie Rudolph, she/her (Stage Manager) is a senior Operations and Technology Management Major and Political Science from Anacortes, WA. She has previously worked as the Stage Manager on Company and You Cannot Undo This Action. Lexie has been involved with the Department of Performing and Fine Arts since 2018, working in the costume shop and helping backstage. While at UP, Lexie has worked on costumes for The Moors, House of Desires, The Dragon, Pippin, Dog Sees God, The Christians, Boeing, Boeing, Silent Sky, and Doctor Faustus. As a musician, she has performed in orchestras for Avenue Q and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. She would like to thank the various faculty members and cast members that have helped her learn throughout the last several years and listened to her while she nerds out about automated Excel spreadsheets.
Eleanor Sells, she/her (Little Girl, Time) is first year Elementary Education Major from San Jose, CA. She is thrilled to be a part of this production! While she has been in numerous shows since she was a wee lad, Eleanor has never been a part of a college production. Eleanor is currently studying Elementary Education and minoring in Psychology, but her passion lies in performing. When she is not in school or at rehearsal, Eleanor enjoys being with friends, enjoying nature, and obsessing over Taylor Swift. Lastly, Eleanor wants to thank everyone involved in this production for welcoming her to this amazing program and working so hard to make this play happen.
Olivia Sloss, she/her (Somebody) is a senior Theater and Psychology Major from Carmichael, CA. Olivia is so thankful she had the chance to share this complex, beautiful, chewy show with you! She has previously appeared on the UP stage (and screen) in The Penelopiad, The Dragon, Interlude, The Public, Clue, House of Desires, and The Moors. She has also directed two events for The Theatre Club on Campus, titled: The Guest: A New Zoom Play, and Climate Change Theatre Action. Olivia would like to thank everyone involved in this production for working so hard to make it happen! She would like to give a special thanks to Lexie and Andy for leading this team through the world of the play, and her roommates for being so willing to run lines with her – she couldn’t have done it without you! Branna Sundy, she/her (Assistant Stage Manager) is a first year Theater Major from Clayton, CA. Branna is excited and honored to be involved with this chaotic play. She was last seen reading stage directions in UP's reading of How Can I Keep from Singing. Her most recent shows include Puffs as Leanna and Twelve Angry Jurors as Juror 1. This is the strangest play she has ever been part of, and she hopes that, even if the show scares you, it makes you think about the hope and determination inherent in humanity.
Susan Bonde, Costume Shop Manager
Sue Bonde is the costume shop manager for the University of Portland. She worked in Chicago as a freelance costume designer and technician for the Goodman Theater and Light Opera Works prior to moving to Portland. She has designed for A.R.T., New Rose Theatre, and Portland Repertory Theatre, and the Wee Sing children’s videos before joining Michael Curry Design and working on The Lion King on Broadway. Bonde has designed costumes for Portland Opera’s The Return of Ulysses, Albert Herring, La Calisto, Il Ballo delle Ingrate/Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda/Trouble in Tahiti, Galileo, Postcards from Morocco, L’heure Espanogle / L’enfant et les Sortileges, and La Cenerentola. She is the recipient of two Willamette Week Excellence in Theater Awards and two Portland Drammy Awards. Mock’s Crest Opera costume design credits include Iolanthe, Ruddigore, The Pirates of Penzance, Light in the Piazza, and Yeoman of the Guard. Past designs for UP include Tartuffe, Pippin, and The Moors. She recently served as costumer for A.R.T.’s production of The Hombres and is looking forward to designing Twelfth Night this spring for the University of Portland.
Andy Christensen, Instructor, Directing and Acting
Andy Christensen is a fiercely curious artist-educator who specializes in emergent forms of immersive and site-informed theatre that explore the intersection of place and time. In his practice, he builds egalitarian ensembles that create interdisciplinary, research-driven, and process-shaped performances that put audiences at the center of artistic experiences and contextualize performance within community. After receiving his M.F.A. in theatre directing from the Lir Academy of Trinity College in Dublin and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Andy returned to the United States to invest in emerging artists in the Pacific Northwest. He is a founder of Cascadia Art Project and a member of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society. He has mentored artists in many regional high schools, George Fox University, Pacific University, and most recently at Whitworth University where he was recognized for outstanding integration of vocation in the classroom.
Lezlie C. Cross, PhD, Assistant Professor, Theatre History and Dramaturgy
Dr. Cross’s directing credits at UP include House of Desires, Where is Home: a Digital Living Newspaper, and As You Like It. At UP, she teaches courses in theatre history, dramaturgy, and playwriting. She is also a professional dramaturg who has worked at regional theatres across America including the Utah Shakespeare Festival, Nevada Conservatory Theatre, Cincinnati Shakespeare, Classic Stage Company, Actor’s Theatre of Louisville, and Oregon Shakespeare Festival where she was the literary assistant for five years. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Washington, her M.A. from the Shakespeare Institute, University of Birmingham, and her B.A. from Whitman College. See more at lezliecross.com
Larry Larsen, M.F.A., Professor, Academic Associate Dean, College of Arts and Sciences
Professor Larsen has been involved in theater since the 5th grade when he played Schroder in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and has had a life long association with the theatre ever since. He is in his 29th year at the University, and besides teaching the scenic and lighting design coursework for the Theater Program, he is an Academic Associate Dean for the College of Arts and Sciences. His most recent design work, which is over a 100 shows at the University, includes lighting and scenery designs for House of Desires, Tartuffe, Eurydice, and Jesus Christ Superstar. Larry has worked as a professional designer in Portland for the last 30 years and recent professional work includes lights for Don’t Hug Me, and scenery for Nunsense and Company at Broadway Rose Theatre, the lights for Blithe Spirit at Lakewood Theatre Co., Haddon Hall Revels for Portland Revels where he is the resident set designer, All My Sons and This Random World for Portland Actors Conservatory, and Mr. Kolpert for Third Rail Repertory Theater. Other theatres designed for include Artists Repertory Theatre, Oregon Children’s Theatre, Northwest Children's Theatre, Portland Repertory Theatre, Tygres Heart Shakespeare Co. , Portland Civic Theatre and Summer Repertory Theatre in Santa Rosa. Prior to his employment at the University, Larry worked as the Design Associate for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, both in Ashland and Portland. He has his MFA in Theatre Design from the University of Washington.
Mindi Logan, M.F.A., Associate Professor, Acting Instructor
Mindi is beginning her 23rd year teaching for the University of Portland. Her artistic work at the University includes acting and dialect coaching for productions. Mindi received her MFA from the Professional Actors Training Program at Rutgers University and then worked professionally as an actor in New York and Los Angeles, appearing off-Broadway, in soap operas, sitcoms, and film. Continuing her professional acting career, Mindi has appeared locally with Artists Repertory Theatre, Theater Vertigo, Willamette Shakespeare, Quintessence Theater, Stark Raving Theatre, in commercials, industrials, and voiceovers. Mindi was awarded the Kennedy Center Gold Medallion for her service as the Regional Chair of the Kennedy Center/American College Theatre Festival. Mindi’s husband Hal is a professional musician and composer who also works locally and teaches at the University of Portland.
Eric Lyness, Scene Shop Manager
Eric Lyness (class of '12) has had the pleasure of working here at his alma mater since 2015. Favorite UP credits include crafting sound designs for Good Kids and A Midsummer Night's Dream, and scenic designs for 1959 Pink Thunderbird. He has worked as a director, designer, and technician at various theatres across Portland including Third Rail Repertory, Portland Opera, Northwest Theatre Workshop, and Artists Rep.
Gregory Pulver, M.F.A., Associate Professor, Costume and Makeup Design
Professor Gregory Pulver teaches courses in The Creative Process in Visual Arts, Intro to the Art of Theater, Beginning Costume Development and Analysis, Advanced Costume Design and Research, Theater Makeup Techniques. He is also a director and choreographer for plays and musicals for the UP Theater season annually. Before becoming Associate Professor and Program Director for the UP Theater Program, Gregory was an Associate Professor of Costume Design at Western Washington University for 12 years and Chair of the WWU Theatre Department for four of those years. Gregory holds an MFA in costume design and choreography from Humboldt State University, CA. He is the 1993 Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF) National Costume Design Winner for his work on Three Penny Opera at Humboldt State. His twenty-eight year mentorship of theatre design students has garnered 4 KCACTF national design winners, 14 national design competitors and dozens of regional winners. Gregory started his teaching career at Humboldt State University in 1990 where he was fortunate to complete his MFA, take over the makeup design program and classes, and teach contemporary dance as an adjunct instructor. Gregory is currently a Resident Artist at Artist Repertory Theater in Portland where his favorite of many designs include The Hombres, Broomstick, Cuba Libre, and Foxfinder. He has been a member of the international board of advisors for The Last Frontier Theatre Conference in Valdez, AK for 15 years and participates as a featured artist mentoring new American playwrights by participating on response panels, providing workshops in design and writing, and by individual mentorship during each festival. In Portland, Gregory has designed both sets and costumes for Bag and Baggage Theatre in Hillsboro, and costumes for Broadway Rose Theatre in Portland. Gregory has designed for several short films and TV spots in Washington including a dance for the camera film titled Egg Skin. Gregory is also an accomplished singer and actor, and plans to restart that career once he retires from academia. Or he may just garden. His most tried and true hobbies are dog owner and avid dinner party host.
