Alexandra Hill
Associate Professor of German, German Studies Program Director, Co-Director of the Gender & Women’s Studies Minor
Dr. Hill first studied abroad in Berlin during her junior year of college, and she was terrified to live so far from home. Since then, German has grown into her like a network of tree roots and become an inextricable part of who she is. Dr. Hill’s favorite courses to teach at UP include Remembering Divided Germany, German Women’s Writing, and Accelerated Beginning German. She loves meeting beginning language learners as freshmen and working with them through their senior year, supporting them as they study abroad, participate in internships, write senior theses, and apply for competitive grants and scholarships. Dr. Hill has published articles and a book on contemporary German-language literature by women and is currently the co-editor of the journal
Feminist German Studies. In her free time, she loves to eat, read, knit, and spend time with her husband and dog.
