2021-22: Interdisciplinary Working Groups

From its inception, a key goal of the Public Research Fellows program has been to create conversations and collaboration beyond the typical confines of our campus culture and our scholarly disciplines. This year, the program shifted away from a single annual theme to instead build three interdisciplinary working groups that each explored timely topics and expanded what academic research and outcomes might look like.

Drawing from disciplines across campus, including English, Environmental Studies, Psychological Sciences, Health and Wellness, and the Performing Arts, the working groups brought faculty and students together to collectively design, build, and disseminate research. Their topics and methods ranged widely, from telling the little-known stories of Portland foodways, to measuring the potential healing power of art and music, to archiving UP's pandemic experiences.
