About Public Research Fellows

The Public Research Fellows program is sponsored by the Humanities Collaborative with support from the College of Arts & Sciences.

The program is founded upon the belief that the humanities should play a vital role in responding to the challenges faced by universities and our communities. It provides structure and support for the development of collaborative faculty-student research projects that are inspired by an annual theme.

Through the research projects, public lectures, classes, and a symposium, the program aims at every level to demonstrate how the humanities can help connect our campus to local communities and the wider public. This represents the best of the liberal arts education University of Portland has been proud to offer since its founding in 1901.
