Roosevelt Institute

The University of Portland sponsors a local chapter of the Roosevelt Institution, a non-profit, non-partisan network of campus-based "think tanks." Political science majors who participate in our local chapter conduct policy research on timely political issues such as environmental protection, trade, and constitutional issues such as equal protection. Participation in the work of the Roosevelt Institution provides members the opportunity to delve deeply into policy issues of local, regional, or national scope, equips them with those practical and theoretical skills necessary to negotiate the policy process, and thus encourages the next generation of leaders engaged in the political process.

Students actively engaged in the Roosevelt Institution publish numerous policy and research journals, advance dozens of legislative goals, and hold countless meetings, panels and conferences every year.
