After graduation in May, theology major Tyler Tangen ’19 will begin a life in ministry as he attends the Postulant Program at Moreau Seminary. Tangen will live in the Congregation of Holy Cross religious community and work towards a master’s of divinity degree.
“I’ve been fortunate to have had the opportunity to see Holy Cross’ work in a few different parts of the world,” Tangen said. “That has lead me to truly fall in love with the work they do and the simplicity in which they live their lives.”
The seminary program allows for college graduates to understand religious life and priesthood with the Congregation of Holy Cross. Tangen will enter into the religious community and will live along with the temporarily professed seminarians who are completing their graduate studies in theology.
“It’s been a very long process of prayerfully discerning where God might be calling me in life,” Tangen said. “What has lead me to enter seminary next year is the desire to satisfy a deep curiosity that I have about this lifestyle, that maybe God is actually calling me to give my entire life to this type of work.”
During his time at UP, Tangen was heavily involved with on-campus life. He worked as a resident assistant in Schoenfeldt Hall, as a video production assistant for athletics, as a student worker in Bauccio Commons, and with Campus Ministry’s groups and encounters.
