On October 30th, the University of Portland's English Department hosted an engaging reading and lecture series featuring esteemed alumnus Mark Pomeroy. Held in the Brian Doyle Auditorium, the event attracted a vibrant audience eager to hear from Pomeroy, who shared insights into his literary journey and the inspiration behind his latest novel, The Tigers of Lents.
Set against the backdrop of Southeast Portland and the scenic campus of UP, Pomeroy’s reading transported listeners to familiar locales, intertwining personal experiences with rich storytelling. Attendees appreciated the opportunity to connect with a fellow Pilots alumnus who has made significant strides in the literary world.
The event not only highlighted Pomeroy’s work but also reinforced the strong ties between the university and its graduates. Alumni and current students alike found inspiration in Pomeroy’s success, reminding them of the vibrant community that UP fosters.
We extend our gratitude to Mark Pomeroy for sharing his talent and experiences with us, as well as to the UP English Department for organizing such a meaningful event. We look forward to more enriching readings and lectures in the future!
