"Trust Black Women: The Importance of Black Women in U.S. Politics"
Dr. Brittney Cooper, Associate Professor of Women’s and Gender Studies and Africana Studies at Rutgers University, will give the keynote address for the College of Arts and Science’s Public Research Fellows inaugural symposium at the University of Portland. Dr. Cooper is a leading Black feminist speaker and author of Beyond Respectability: The Intellectual Thought of Race Women and the best-seller Eloquent Rage: A Black Feminist Discovers Her Superpower. Cooper’s address will provide a critical framework for thinking about the meanings of the U.S. suffrage centennial, the Public Research Fellows inaugural theme.
