Association for Women in Mathematics

The University of Portland Department of Mathematics is a departmental member of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM).  The AWM’s mission is to promote equal opportunity and the equal treatment of women and girls in the mathematical sciences, supporting individuals and institutions as we all work to make a more just and equitable community.

The Association for Women in Mathematics has been encouraging girls and women in the mathematical sciences since 1971. The AWM is a unique organization with over 5,000 members ranging from high school students to retirees. Our annual investment helps to support AWM’s many programs, bringing more girls into mathematics and retaining the women who are already there.
