Chemistry is a fascinating and dynamic subject that examines the world at the atomic, molecular, and macromolecular levels, which ranges from quantum mechanics to proteins and nucleic acids. The UP chemistry program educates students across the five traditional sub-disciplines (analytical, organic, physical, inorganic, and biochemistry) and teaches them to be able to critically think and communicate about chemistry. To achieve these learning outcomes the department has a rigorous curriculum with a degree program certified by the American Chemical Society (ACS), and we provide four different options that result in a Bachelor of Science Degree. The dedicated Faculty and Staff are committed to working with students and providing them with an excellent education.
The department has an impressive array of state-of-the-art facilities and instrumentation, including the UP Diffraction Center. We utilize this instrumentation across our curriculum and in undergraduate research conducted at UP. We are pleased to be able to attract and retain talented students who move successfully to employment or continue their education at graduate programs or health professional schools.
We invite you to explore our programs, and to contact us if we can answer any further questions for you.
