Alpha Kappa Delta Honor Society

Alpha Kappa Delta is the national honor society for sociology. It was established in 1920 at the University of Southern California, and now has more than 80,000 scholars who have been initiated into the society. There are more than 490 chapters in the United States, Canada, China, Finland, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Singapore.

At the University of Portland, membership in Alpha Kappa Delta depends upon:

  • Being a major or minor in sociology, or having demonstrated interest in the field;
  • Having a 3.0 GPA overall and in sociology courses;
  • Junior standing in the University;
  • Submitting an application to Martin Monto, club advisor.
