Laurie Dizney

photo of Laurie DizneyLaurie Dizney is interested in how habitat alteration and degradation affect the health of wildlife, specifically small mammals. She studies aspects of physiology, immunology and ecology to understand the in/ability of wildlife to thrive and persist in human-altered landscapes.

Students working with Dr. Dizney will:

  • Learn how to trap and handle small mammals as well as collect data and samples from them
  • Learn lab techniques to measure several aspects of immunity
  • Spend two weeks each summer at research sites located in the Spokane WA area
  • Collaborate with faculty and students from multiple institutions and disciplines
  • Analyze data and present findings in a scientific format
  • Work hard, learn tons and have fun!
