Dr. Dyer teaches Developmental Biology and Human Anatomy and Physiology. Her research broadly examines cardiac development, with a focus on the coronary arteries and the neurons that surround the base of the heart. She has a grant from the National Institutes of Health to study how the coronary arteries remodel once they connect to the aorta, and she and her research students recently published a systematic review describing how prenatal alcohol exposure affects an infant’s baseline heart rate. Current projects are addressing the cell signaling underlying smooth muscle recruitment to the coronary arteries and the effects of alcohol exposure on neural crest migration and differentiation.
