Dr. Weilhoefer combines her love of nature, pattern finding, and statistics to solve ecological problems resulting from human activities. Her current research transcends the boundaries of traditional ecology to develop molecular tools for detecting and predicting harmful algal blooms in the Pacific Northwest and Caribbean Sea. In the classroom, she uses nature-based educational experiences to empower students to develop a deep understanding and connection to the natural world that inspires them towards conservation.
