Christie Cesar

• Christie Engesser Cesar (Dr. EC) designs class around student learning opportunities to encourage active engagement with course content. This includes retrieval practices, discussion, drawing, and applications to patient scenarios to illustrate physiological mechanisms.  Class emphasizes learning for long-term memory formation. 
• Outside of the classroom, Dr. EC enjoys working with the Human Anatomy and Physiology 2 Lab Teaching Assistants.
• She is an advocate for informal and formal peer-to-peer teaching as a part of the learning process for both the learned and the learner. 
• Dr. EC’s former teaching assignments include classes for students ranging in age from middle school to graduate school, but the undergraduate students are her favorite.
• She has undergraduate degrees in Exercise & Movement Science and Psychology, a Secondary Teaching Credential in Biology and a PhD in Neurobiology and Behavior.
• She is most proud of her role as a parent to three children.
