Mocks Crest Productions

The Light in the Piazza

Book by Craig Lucas Lyrics and Score by Adam Guettel

June 8th-10th, 14th-17th, and 21st-24th, 2018

Thursday-Saturday performances 7:30 p.m. | Sundays at 2:00 p.m.

This year’s show takes a step away from our typical productions of Gilbert & Sullivan (don't worry -we will return to G & S next summer with a production of The Mikado.) The Light in the Piazza is a contemporary musical operetta based on a 1962 film of the same name, and like all of Gilbert and Sullivan’s shows, it's about true love.

  • $27 Students/Seniors

Mission

Mocks Crest is a semi-professional company devoted to a yearly summer production of comic light opera, primarily the operettas of Gilbert & Sullivan, that combines professional singers and musicians with the students, faculty and staff in the Department of the Performing and Fine Arts at the University of Portland. The production company was originally created under the guidance of Dr. Roger Doyle in 1990 with the support of the theatre faculty as his production team. The goal of this organization is to bring quality musical theatre to the University's campus, the local Mocks Crest neighborhood and the greater Portland area by remounting and reinterpreting these great works of music, and connecting the young performing artists at the University to the larger Portland music community.
