Faculty Development

Faculty members in the College of Arts & Sciences are the lifeblood of the University of Portland. As our most critical asset contributing to the educational mission of the institution, we recognize the importance of investing in faculty at all career stages and in all dimensions of their work: teaching, scholarship, service, and leadership.

To invest in faculty is to invest in our students, in our colleagues, and in our future as an institution. The faculty development program in CAS will design and implement a comprehensive program of support for all faculty across a broad spectrum of professional activities, including but not limited to: teaching and learning, use of instructional technologies, scholarly research and creative activities, professional and service activities, and other campus-wide intellectual and community-building events.

Our goal is to ensure that the CAS faculty have access to resources and support that enable them, individually and collectively, to make a difference in the lives and learning of their students, in academic disciplines, and in the larger society which education seeks to serve.
