College of Arts & Sciences: Home
On behalf of our faculty, staff, students, and alumni, welcome to the College of Arts and Sciences of the University of Portland!
The College of Arts and Sciences began with the founding of the University of Portland in 1901 and continues the rich traditions of Catholic and Holy Cross higher education. Our mission for more than a century has been the formation of the whole person. As Blessed Basil Moreau, CSC, the founder of Holy Cross put it, “We shall always place education side by side with instruction; the mind will not be cultivated at the expense of the heart.”
The College is home to the largest number of students enrolled at the University—over 1250 students, who are engaged in 32 degree programs within 20 departments and programs of study. Moreover, our faculty teach all of the courses of the University’s undergraduate Core.
I invite you to explore the College of Arts and Sciences' website and become familiar with our gifted and dedicated faculty and staff, our rich and academically rigorous programs of study, and our commitment to serve our local community, even as we form the minds and hearts of men and women in service to our nation and global community.
Should you have any questions about the College of Arts and Sciences, I invite you to contact me directly at
