Philosophy: Philosophy, Politics & Policy
Philosophy, Politics & Policy Program
This interdisciplinary program allows students to double major in philosophy and political science more easily than they would be able to if they did each of the majors outside of the program. In addition to philosophy and political science courses, it involves three economics courses, a tutorial in the spring of the junior year to prepare them for their thesis and a thesis in the fall of the senior year. The thesis is a policy analysis that includes both philosophical and political perspectives. It would be advised by two faculty members, one from each department.

ECN 120: Introduction to Macroeconomics
ECN 121: Introduction to Microeconomics
ECN 320: Intermediate Macroeconomics
POL 200: Introduction to United States Politics
POL 201: Introduction to International Relations
POL 202: Modern Foreign Governments
POL 300: Political Inquiry and Analysis
POL 312: Western Political Theory
POL 335: American Public Policy
PHL/POL 490: junior year tutorial (pre-requisites: ECN 120, 121, and xxx or 325)
PHL/POL 499: senior thesis
Students would then need to take 7 classes from among the following, four from Political Science and three from Philosophy (At least one of the POL courses must be 400 level. At least one of the POL courses must be Comparative Politics, one must be American Government, and one must be International Relations):

Other courses with the permission of the Department Chairs
Note that two of the philosophy classes, one political science class, and one economics class count for the University core. Additionally, one philosophy class counts for the CAS core, three of the upper division classes from either could count as upper division electives, and the upper division economics course could also count as an upper division elective.
