MOCK’S CREST PRODUCTIONS 2009
A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Mock’s Crest company will present its first production of a Broadway show with a spectacular and fully-staged production of Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music. Though not quite of the Savoy opera style, patrons will find many similarities with the situations, humor, and complications that characterize the operettas. The Swedish widower Fredrik has recently remarried but to a young woman barely as old as his own children. The complications abound when Fredrik encounters a former lover, the actress Desiree Armfeldt and her renewed expectations (played by Oregonian writer Margie Boule). This brilliant musical comedy of Sweden was prompted by the 1955 film Smiles of a Summer Night by Ingmar Bergman—a film regularly included in lists of great films. The musical show opened in 1973 and won the Tony award for the best musical of that season.
The show opens Friday, June 5th and runs through June 28th.
