International Languages & Cultures: Student Resources
When you study in International Languages and Cultures, you will find many resources that can help you meet your goals. The department works closely with the University’s study abroad programs to maximize students’ exposure to their target languages and cultures. We also work with students who seek to do internships in their selected language. Graduates and seniors in the department have a strong track record of obtaining grants to continue their studies abroad.
Help when you need it: Language assistants in the Learning Resource Center
The ILC hires student language assistants to support students' participation in Chinese, French, German and Spanish classes. These assistents tutor students one on one and in groups, and they make recommendations on how student can improve their work. Students can contact language assistants by using our language assistance program hotlines. Give it a try, and you'll see an improvement in your language learning and skills!International Languages and Cultures Language Lab Computers
The Department of International Languages and Cultures provides a language lab computers to students wishing to use Internet language and cultural web sites. Our Chinese language students make use of Chinese language software and DVDs in the lab. Located in Franz 120, the lab is equipped with six Apple Macintosh computers with headsets and microphones. The language lab is also used from time to time by ILC faculty and students for small classes, projects and group work.
Powerspeak Languages Online
The University library subscribes to Powerspeak Languages, an online site for language practice in French, German, Mandarin and Spanish.
