Previous Keynote Speaker Information:

The keynote speaker for NUCL 2009 was professor Eric Sundquist (UCLA), Sundquist is the author or editor of influential books on American literature and culture, and is renowned in particular for his work on U.S. racial and ethnic minorities, beginning with his 1993 book, the prize-winning To Wake the Nations: Race in the Making of American Literature, and continuing with his recent Strangers in the Land: Blacks, Jews, Post-Holocaust America (2005). Our first six keynote speakers were the nationally respected scholars Margreta de Grazia (University of Pennsylvania), Gerald Graff and Cathy Birkenstein (University of Illinois), Felicity Nussbaum (U.C.L.A), John Carlos Rowe (University of Southern California), and Albert Gelpi (Stanford University).
