NORTHWEST PHILOSOPHY CONFERENCE

The University of Portland is host for the 2006 Northwest Conference on Philosophy. The conference this year will feature plenary sessions on Equality and Political Theory and Phenomenology. The Northwest Conference welcomes paper submissions on all areas of philosophical interest. Papers that are accepted for the conference will be assigned a commentator.

Location:

The University of Portland campus is located on a bluff overlooking the Willamette River north of the downtown area. The University is easily accessible from downtown hotels and restaurants.

Keynote Speakers:

The keynote speakers at this year’s conference will be Calvin Schrag, Distinguished Professor Emeritus from Purdue University, and Kenneth Baynes, Professor of Philosophy and Political Science from Syracuse University.

Registration:

Registration fees are $55 for those pre-registering with a postmark no later than October 13. Fees thereafter are $65. A student rate is also available: $35 before October 13 and $45 thereafter.

Hotel Accommodations:

Two downtown Portland hotels, the Sheraton Four Points at the waterfront and Days Inn City Center have set aside of rooms at very reasonable rates for participants in the conference. Reservations at Days Inn City Center must be made by October 6th to ensure conference rates. Reservations at Sheraton Four Points must be made by October 20th to ensure conference rates.

The keynote addresses will be in plenary sessions on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
