Communication Studies: Curriculum
Undergraduate students who major in Communication Studies may choose either a Bachelor of Arts in Communication or a Bachelor of Science in Organizational Communication.
- The B.A. degree focuses on media and journalism, and addresses the role that mediated messages play in shaping societal attitudes, values, or beliefs.
- The Bachelor of Science focuses on public relations or human resources in connection with the Dr. Robert B. Pamplin, Jr. School of Business Administration.
We also offer two graduate degrees, a Master of Arts degree in Communication or a Master of Science in Management Communication in conjunction with the Dr. Robert B. Pamplin, Jr. School of Business Administration.
- The M.S. program reflects the important role that communication plays in organizing and developing personnel in organizations.
- Areas of emphasis in the M.A. program include journalism, organizational communication, and rhetorical studies.
All of our programs develop students' abilities to design, express, and critically evaluate written, oral, nonverbal and electronically-mediated messages in a variety of communication contexts.
