Chemistry: Curriculum
The Chemistry Major
There are three options available to students pursuing a bachelor of science in chemistry. Each of the options provides a solid preparation for professional practice in chemistry and variety of related areas and for entrance to graduate school. Each of the options requires 120 total credit hours and has the following common requirements:Scholarship Requirements
A grade of C- or better in the first semester is recommended for continuation to the second semester of all sequence science courses (for example: CHM 207-208). An average G.P.A. of 2.0 must be maintained in all science, mathematics, and engineering courses required for the major.
University Core Curriculum and College Requirements
All students seeking a B.S. degree must complete the University core curriculum and College requirements, consisting of a minimum total of 36 semester hours in the following areas: communicative skills, fine arts, humanities, history, social science, philosophy and theology.

Upper-division: Chemistry majors must take the sequences in analytical, organic, physical and inorganic chemistry. | |
Chemistry professor Sr. Angela Hoffman, O.S.B., was chosen an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Fellow in 2007.
